Description: a collaborative endeavour of World Leisure and Wageningen University and Research Centre. Worldwide in orientation, the course addresses the complete and multifaceted relationship between leisure (free time) and leisure-related issues (such as tourism, sport, the arts) on the one hand and environmental issues on the other; all this from and in a worldwide perspective.
Open to: Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree holders with work experience. Open to candidates of all nationalities, aged 22-40 and having good knowledge of English (TOEFL); candidates may have qualifications in the field of leisure or leisure related fields, e.g. tourism, or socio-cultural science; screening at country level; language training available before start of course. Limited admission per country and world region.
Duration: one year abroad (course begins 15 August).
Fees: the total costs for Non-EU/EFTA (European Union/European Free Trade Association) students 17,245 (18 months; internship not needed; residential period 12 months), for EU/EFTA students 16,349. (24 months; for 18 months part of the tuition fee will be reimbursed).
Financial assistance: assistance very limited.

WMO Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP):

• Study Domains: hydrology, meteorology.
• Scholarships: WMO Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP); courses in general meteorology, applied meteorology, climatology, operational hydrology.
• Open to: applicants from developing countries nominated by their governments; qualifications vary according to the individual requirements.
• Place of study: in various countries; at WMO Regional Meteorological Training Centres, universities, national meteorological and hydrological services, firms, institutes, etc.
• Duration: from 2 weeks to several years (long-term fellowships awarded initially for 12 months with possibility of extensions subject to satisfactory progress).
• Value: normally based on UNDP stipend rates or as provided by Member countries for VCP fellowships.
• Applications: submitted by government of candidate’s country, through local UNDP office; to the Secretary General, WMO.

WTO Education and Training Programmes
Study Domains: tourism, hotel and catering management.
Programmes: World Tourism Organization Education and Training Programmes.
Description: (a) WTO.TedQual. A framework of programmes for quality in tourism education. The WTO.TedQual Certification is granted to training and education institutions by means of a quality audit. The TedQual institutions can request membership in the WTO Education Council (Affiliate Members). There are also TedQual Seminars (educating the educators) for Member States; (b) WTO.GTAT. Set of programmes designed to improve the performance of teaching and learning in tourism, including software for examinations and course development, GTAT Courses to improve specific knowledge and/or prepare for exams, GTAT Diagnosis to ascertain strong and weak points in specific subjects. GTAT Exams and GTAT Certification of Proficiency. Postgraduate GTAT ‘Master in Hotel Administration’ and GTAT.TPS PhD ‘Tourism Policy and Strategy’ are available in Spanish. (c) WTO.Sbest Initiative. A framework for a range of WTO Programmes aimed at contributing to excellence in tourism destinations through quality training and education. Programmes include WTO.Sbest Training, WTO.Sbest Audit and WTO Tourism Labour Market Observatory.
