- Description: fellowships for training in the development, planning, organization, operation and maintenance of telecommunication networks for the economic and social development of the Fellow’s country.
- Subjects: telephony, telecommunication regulatory issues, spectrum management, radio communication services, rural applications, Internet protocol, satellite and space communications, telecommunication management training.
- Open to: nationals of all Member States of the United Nations and affiliated organizations at the request of their government; no age limit, but average 25 to 35 years; candidates should have sound technical background (secondary-school education with accent on mathematics and science followed by specialized training in a telecommunications and field to the level of technician, engineer or telecommunications administrator); priority is given to candidates from least developed countries; priority to candidates from least-developed countries.

- Duration: short-term module courses/attachments (1 week to 1 month).
- Value: fellowships are financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) or trust funds allocated to the country of origin of the candidate and renewable at the request of the government concerned, or from ITU’s own funds. ITU arranges travel, accommodation and full illness and accident insurance coverage.
- Applications: through official telecommunication entity in candidate’s country of origin, who will submit the candidature to ITU through appropriate channels. NOTE: Applications received directly from individuals will not be considered nor acknowledged.

- Scholarships: M. W. Welch Foundation Scholarship for research in vacuum science and related techniques and applications.
- Open to: all qualified scientists with preference for younger scientists with Bachelor’s or preferably Doctor’s degree; applications judged by a panel of trustees. Applicant must make arrangements to work in an appropriate laboratory of his/her choice, to carry out the research programme approved by the laboratory.
- Place of study: in approved laboratories in various countries different to that of the applicant.
- Duration: 1 year (not renewable).
- Value: $15,000 per academic year.

Description: courses on tax forecasts; provision and regulation of infrastructure services; economic reforms and strategic site management; financing of social security, preparation and evaluation of public investment projects, management of project execution, logical framework and impact evaluation of projects and programmes, use of socioeconomic indicators in the impact evaluation of projects and programs to combat poverty, management and valuation of natural resources, strategic management of local and regional development.
