OAS Fellowships:

  • Study Domains: mathematics, metallurgy, physics, technology.
  • Description: The Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) administers one of the hemisphere’s largest multinational fellowships and training programmes. Every year, the Agency provides several hundred fellowships for graduate studies and research, fellowships for undergraduate studies at universities through the region and awards for specialized, short-term training at educational institutions and training centres in OAS Member and Observer States. Fellowships and training award programmes are managed by the Division of Human Development of the Department of Information Technology for Human Development, Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development. As one of its strategic objectives, the Agency has implemented a multi-focused plan to increase fellowships and training opportunities and to expand access to knowledge through greater use of information technology. The Agency has established this Educational Portal for e-learning. As an element of this portal, the Division of Human Development has launched and currently manages a programme of electronic fellowships (e-fellowships) as a more cost-effective mechanism for expanding fellowships and learning opportunities.
  • Open to: to citizens or permanent residents of the OAS Member States for university studies and/or research leading to graduate and undergraduate degrees and awards for short-term professional development training. Studies may be carried out by on-site or by distance education or a combination of both.

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships:

  • Study Domains: all major fields, agriculture, Asian studies, journalism, languages, special education.
  • Scholarships: Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships: (a) Academic Year; (b) Multi-Year; (c) Cultural.
  • Open to: citizens of a country in which there is a Rotary Club. Scholarships are available to individuals of all ages, provided the candidate has completed at least 2 years of university coursework or equivalent professional experience prior to beginning scholarship studies. Souses or descendants of Rotarians are not eligible; (c) applications will be considered for candidates interested in studying Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian Spanish, Swahili and Swedish.
  • Age limit Max: no age limit.
  • Academic requirements: candidate should have completed at least 2 years of university coursework or equivalent professional experience prior to beginning scholarship studies.

1. Courses in International Law and International Relations:

  • Study Domains: international law, international relations, international studies, law.
  • Programmes: Courses in international law and international relations.
  • Description: courses of the Centre for Studies and Research in International Law and International Relations.
  • Open to: young academics or young lawyers of any nationality, intellectually mature and good experience (at least 3 years of practical experience in international affairs); capacity for research work and holding an advanced university degree. Participants will be selected by the Curatorium of the Academy on the basis of their scientific qualifications; half of the participants (10-12) will carry out their research work in the French-speaking section and half in the English-speaking section.
  • Duration: 4 weeks (mid-August to mid-September).
  • Fees: no tuition fees.
  • Financial assistance: participants will receive through the Administrative Council an allowance of 35 per day to cover living expenses, plus half of travelling expenses (up to a maximum of 910) will be covered.
  • Languages: instruction in English and French.

2. International Law, International Relations:

  • Study Domains: international law, international relations.
  • Programmes: (a) courses in private international law; (b) course in public international law; (c) diploma programme.
  • Open to: candidates of all nationalities; (a) and (b) having at least 4 years of law studies; fluent English and French; (c) having a university degree with advanced knowledge of international law.

  • Fees: registration: 240 for 3 weeks and 440 for 6 weeks.

3. The Hague Academy Scholarships:

  • Study Domains: international law.
  • Scholarships: (a) scholarships for Academy courses; (b) doctoral scholarships.
  • Description: (a) international law; (b) completion of (already advanced) doctoral thesis in private or public international law.
  • Open to: no citizenship requirements, aged under 40; law studies at least for 4 years (or equivalent qualifications); (b) candidates from developing countries residing in their home country, aged under 45; the scholarship is meant for completion of already advanced doctoral these (postgraduate level).
  • Duration: (a) 3 weeks; (b) 2 months.
  • Value: (a) approximately 900, covering registration and living expenses; travel expenses not included; (b) allowance of 35 per day and partial contribution to travel expenses.
  • Languages: (a) fluent English or French; (b) adequate knowledge of English or French.
